Please email editor Bob Gough at BobGough@KCNewswatch.com and we will get right back to you.

We finally have an opportunity to take on the Kansas City Star and the media that parrot the Star, but we need help to succeed.

In early July, KC NewsWatch was set up as a 501(c) 4.  Its name suggests its mission: to watch the news and comment thereon, particularly in the greater Kansas City area.

We were given enough money to get the site up and running.  However, we need to generate a stable base of support to keep it running.

Even after the initial promotion ended, we are averaging roughly 1,000 unique visitors a day.  Our influence derives not so much from the number of hits, but from their source.   We have heard from representatives of any number of candidates, incumbents and opinion leaders and a few times from the office of Mayor Mayor Funkhouser.  They all just want to set the record straight.

We also know the Star is following us.  We have its editors looking over their shoulders, and this may be our service of greatest value.  We correct them daily, and we have caught them correcting themselves as a result.

KC NewsWatch can be of great value to any candidate for public office running a statewide race, whose views are not well represented in the Kansas City area.  In 2008, this includes several obvious candidates, especially on the Missouri side.

We also provide talk radio hosts an easily accessible source of news items, and they are taking advantage of it.  One host, Chris Stigall of KCMO, is featured on the site.

We would be happy to reward sponsors with promotional space, but right now this would be more an investment of good will than ROI.  As we build up our numbers, that will change.
