Food for thought - a Contrary Opinion
Bob Hazlett
Sarah Palin, Governor of
Alaska and recent Republican VP pick, seems to be a very strong woman, and
the things she has done in government seem to be the types of things this
country needs. She's also pretty easy on the eyes (you may have noticed),
and she looks at home with her family, or politicians, or grizzly bears, or
probably just about anyone.
I had to wait three days
after she was picked to hear, in the print media (WorldNet Daily is where I
happened to see it), the thing that worried me right away about her as a VP
pick by Mccain. No, it's not all the smears being thrown at her from the
Olbermans, Brokaws, Maddows, Matthews, and Blitzers in the left leaning
(pronounced DEMOCRAT) media. They are just on the attack for their own
candidate, as disgraceful as that is for any media source that doesn't claim
to be biased.
It's not her lack of
experience, as she seems like the type of person that has pretty good
Republican principles that she has exercised in the past, and she seems to
be bright and spunky, which allows her to pick up on things quickly and
deliver a punch when needed. As most people on the right are proud to
proclaim, she probably has more executive experience than the head of the
opposition ticket, one B. Hussein Obama.
Nope, it's a family thing,
and it's not necessarily anything to do with her teenage daughter's
pregnancy, even though that might be related. Here's what it is:
With Dad working full
time, I don't think it's right for a Mom to work at jobs requiring SO MUCH
TIME and EFFORT as Governor or Vice President (Mayor of a small town might
be OK) when she has five kids, including two youngsters, one of which is a
small special needs baby (4-5 months old). ONE of the married parents of
those kids should be home with them, and that would be the Dad, IF the Mom
wants to pursue that type of career. Governor and VP are extremely
demanding, and most couples with small kids don't BOTH work full time when
one of them has those demands and the adequate income those jobs provide.
That is a conservative family principle, nothing less.
If the husband had quit
his job and stayed home upon her ascendancy to Governor, or even if he did
now (a day late and a dollar short, but better than nothing), maybe things
would be more in line with the principles that she otherwise seems to
espouse. But, I'm not hearing that. Are you?
By the way, no one wants
to beat Obama more than I do, at ALMOST ANY cost. |
