Sarah Palin

Kathy Brown, Esq.
Thomas More Law Center, Of Counsel

So,  Kathleen Sebelius thinks:  'Sarah Palin is on the
radical fringe of even the Republican Party on reproductive rights and
privacy issues' (Washington Post, 9/4/08)?  This is certainly news to
me!  See:  I would have thought that Gov. Sebelius's spending the
taxpayers' $ to throw a sky's-the-limit party in the Governor's Mansion
for world champion late-term abortionist George Tiller (aka 'Tiller the
Baby-Killer') would be activity on the 'radical fringe of reproductive
rights issues'.   I  mean, all Sarah Palin did was give birth to a baby
conceived within her 20 year marriage to the same man.  All Sarah Palin
did was announce that her 17 yr. old daughter's out-of-wedlock pregnancy
would be resolved, not by killing the baby; but by-GASP!-an engagement,
then a marriage, between her daughter and the baby's father...

But I guess in the distorted world of Far-Left Democratic politics,
giving birth to a baby with Down's Syndrome IS 'radical'.  I guess in
that world, when a young man and woman fall in love and conceive a
child, to celebrate that via marriage is simply beyond the pale; just
too, too, archaic for words.

Now of course we want to remember the context here.  Just previous to
her vitriolic remarks re:  Gov. Palin,  Sebelius had been widely touted
as the VP presumptive on the Barack Obama ticket.  In the event, she was
passed over.

Now I'd tend to think that the Governor's much-publicized
'homage' to Killer Tiller was, perhaps, more than Obama could bear to
showcase, given his recent outing as THE most impassioned advocate
against the Born Alive Infant's Protection Act (BAIPA) which would have
mandated medical care for infants born alive despite the best
cutting-edge abortion methods being applied to their demise.

Then out steps Sarah Palin.  And she's the VP candidate-not of Obama,
surely; but of John McCain.  And to add insult to injury:  She's an
outspoken Conservative, pro-life as they come.  Even more infuriating:
Palin comes out swinging.  She wows the crowd, downed teleprompter and
all.  And dare we mention another controlling factor?  She's younger,
and prettier, than Sebelius, or Hillary.

So perhaps we're in a better position to evaluate Gov. Sebelius's
description of Sarah Palin in the light of all the foregoing.

In the final analysis, though, I'd venture an iconoclastic opinion.
What I think drives the unprecedented waves of 'ugly' directed at Gov.
Palin-largely by liberal women, not men-is the fact that, for the first
time in recorded history, women finally have a 'normal' woman-one of
their own-as a demonstrably able political candidate.  She's married.
Happily.  To a man.  She's a mother-of a large family.  These lamentable
facts alone point up her utter lack of any Far Left 'feminist'
credentials and to Democratic women-to their 'radical fringe' at
least-this is a woman who must be destroyed.  That's why Gloria Steinem
says that all she's got in common with Hillary Clinton is 'an extra
chromosome'.  It's why the National Organization of [Liberal] Women
excoriate her as ' a woman who is not an advocate for other women' and
Planned Parenthood couldn't wait to condemn her candidacy.

She's EVIDENCE.  Of the emotional bankruptcy of today's 'feminist'
movement.  Of their unhappy lives, hatred of men, disdain for mothering
and-incredibly-their view that a baby is 'punishment' for a 'mistake'.

She's a voice, finally, for all the American women who've had to endure
for years all the endless diatribes against the things most dear to
them:  Marriage, children, loving husbands and LIFE.  Real life.

Here's to Sarah Palin.  Long may she serve.
