EU's New Figurehead is a Global Warming Skeptic
Hide the children!  You won't find this news in the KC Star!  The London Times Online reports that the European Union's new figurehead believes that climate change is a dangerous myth and has compared the union to a Communist state.   The views of President
Vaclav Klaus of the Czech Republic, 67, have left the government of Mirek Topolanek, his bitter opponent, determined to keep him as far away as possible from the EU presidency, which it took over from France yesterday.
London Times Online - EU's new figurehead believes climate change is a myth

Connecticut Democratic lawmaker Frank Nicastro sees saving the local newspaper as his duty. But others think he and his colleagues are setting a worrisome precedent for government involvement in the U.S. press.  Former Miami Herald Editor Tom Fiedler said that a democracy has an obligation to help preserve a free press.  It looks like the Democrats want the taxpayers to prop up failing newspapers.
Reuters - Robert Milian - Government aid could save U.S. newspapers

KC Star is Confused About Who is the "Attacker" in the Current  Mideast Conflict
The KC Star Print newspaper headline accuses Israel as the attacker:
                     "Israelis consider halt to attacks"
The KC Star online version headline for the same story has a different headline:

The Palestinians are the attackers in this conflict.  The KC Star is very confused.
KC Star - Israelis consider halt to attacks

KC Star Columnist Mary Sanchez Preaches to Rick Warren
KC Star columnist Mary Sanchez informs us that Pastor Rick Warren needs to evolve spiritually because his views on homosexual “marriage” are not “mainstream.”  Not mainstream?  Ms. Sanchez fails to notice the election results on Prop 8 in California and a similar measure in Missouri.  However, Pastor Warren does not seem to care if his religious views are mainstream or not.  Unlike Ms. Sanchez.

California Bullet Trains on Funding Fast Track
With the economy in recession, California's plan to ask the federal government for billions of dollars to help build the nation's first high-speed rail system might seem like wishful thinking. The Media Research Center today announced its Best Notable Quotables of 2008: The 21st Annual Awards for the Year’s Worst Reporting, and MSNBC’s Chris Matthews “won” the dubious honor of Quote of the Year for gushing over a Barack Obama (the Messiah) speech back in February: “I felt this thrill going up my leg. Barney Frank Thinks the Messiah Overestimates His Charm
Rep. Frank says: I think he overestimates his ability to take people, particularly our colleagues on the right, and, sort of, charm them into being nice,  I know he talks about being post-partisan. Why Are We Naming Schools For Paul Robeson?
Someone in Kansas City decided it was a good idea to name a school for the late Paul Robeson.  Public school districts in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, California, and elsewhere have also named schools for a man the Chicago School District describes as a “great human being.”  Tim Tzouliadis’s stunning new book, “The Foresaken,” reminds us why this was such a horrible idea.

Are You Impressed by a Chinese Character Tattoo?
Some folks get a Chinese character tattoo to make you think they are “spiritual”.  The Max Planck Institute, a respected scientific organization, used a Chinese handbill to give its journal's cover some “spirituality”.  Chinese characters look dramatic and beautiful, and have a powerful visual impact. Unfortunately, the handbill was from a Macau brothel.  The cover sparked much amusement among Chinese readers.

Judge's Cartoon About Ann Coulter in the Star Was Bogus
KC Star's Lee Judge has a drawing of Ann Coulter (12/14) with the caption "Ann Coulter breaks her jaw & has her mouth wired shut. (Proof that God doesn't always work in mysterious ways)".  I saw Ann on Fox News Hannity and Combs last night ((12/15) chatting like her usual self.  Judge’s cartoon was a fib.  Judge based his cartoon on a bogus blog in Portland.

Trouble With the Messiah's Partying Workers
Kathleen Parker, no friend of Republicans, deftly discusses the "scandal-ette" about the HRC cardboard cutout.  Jon Favreau, head speechwriter for the Messiah, playfully fondled a cardboard image of HRC at a beer party and had the misfortune of having his picture taken.  A great story in the KC Star.

Conservatives Help Elect Liberal Leadership in Kansas Senate
The vote stunned many conservatives - not so much because they lost, but because of the names of some of the senators who voted to support the Republican liberals.  Julia Lynn, of Olathe, a self-proclaimed conservative, also voted to keep the liberal Republicans in their leadership positions.  Lynn received far more from the Kansas Republican Senatorial Committee than any other candidate - perhaps as much as $50,000, including three contributions totaling $25,000.
KansasLiberty.com - Key conservatives' support vital to Senate leadership

On ABC's "This Week", Sen. John McCain Attacks GOP
Sen. John McCain  on Sunday sided with the Messiah and scolded the Republican National Committee for fanning the Illinois corruption scandal.   McCain said "I don't know all the details of the relationship between President-elect Obama's campaign or his people and the governor of Illinois, but I have some confidence that all the information will come out. It always does, it seems to me.”
Politico - McCain scolds GOP for whacking Obama

KCNewswatch is confused by Judge's cartoon about Ann Coulter.
KC Star's Lee Judge has a drawing of Ann Coulter (12/14) with the caption "Ann Coulter breaks her jaw & has her mouth wired shut. (Proof that God doesn't always work in mysterious ways.)"    Is OK to joke about someone's serious injury? KCNewswatch is not aware about Ann Coulter breaking her jaw. Did Judge invent the item about Coulter breaking her jaw and then make a funny about his made up news item?  Or did we not look hard enough to locate the news item?  Or was it a lie?

Yo Star, Cashill Was Right About St. Louis
Star reader rep Derek Donovan took exception to an American Thinker article by Jack Cashill, “Newspapers Censor Their Way To Oblivion.”  He (Donovan) titled his response article, “Stating lies forcefully does not make them true.” As Cashill explains, there were not only no “lies” in the article, but no mistakes.  He adds, "I wrote off Donovan's failure to understand the impact of the word “lie” to ignorance, not malice.  In a more honor-bound era, I would have had to shoot him."  Jack Cashill challenges Derek to a duel.

Strange change by Law Enforcement in KC
The KC Star reports a two day “crime sweep” by KCMO police resulting in 92 arrests.  The Star fails to report on what they charged with and why they were arrested.  The police confiscated 20 guns.  KCMO Police Chief Jim Corwin has opposed locking up criminals.  Corwin is a strong advocate of “Restoratve Justice”, a policy of blaming society for crime and treating the perp as a victim of society.
Restorative Justice advocates eliminating jails.  Corwin must be planning a future in KCMO politics.

How Will the Media Refer to the Messiah?
The media likes to use the initials of presidents in headlines and news stories.  We read about JFK, GWB, LBJ, and HRC.  Will the Messiah be BHO?  The media never notices that the Messiah has a middle name.  Will he be just BO?  Or will he just be called the Messiah?

New York Times Turns Against Blagojevich and Obama
The Democratic organ, The New York Times, has a strange (for them) take on the scandal brewing with Rod Blagojevich.  The Times writes: Mr. Obama’s unusual decision to inject himself into a statewide issue during the height of his presidential campaign was a reminder that despite his historic ascendancy to the White House, he has never quite escaped the murky and insular world of Illinois politics.

Mortgage finance giant Fannie Mae did not make the investments that sparked the current housing market crisis, the company's former chief told the U.S. House of Representatives Tuesday.   Franklin Raines, who left Fannie Mae under the cloud of an accounting scandal in 2004, said the company had simply followed a flawed market.   "By the time the (government-sponsored enterprise) began its most significant investments in riskier loans in 2005, the roots of the present crisis had long taken hold," he said in prepared testimony to lawmakers.

Kansas Chief Justice Admonishes Fellow Justices for Denigrating Phill Kline
The Kansas Supreme Court considered a case brought by the defendant that accused the Prosecutor of wrongdoing in order to excuse the defendant.  Before the trial.  Very bizarre.  The KC Star, however, is a cheerleader for these strange legal shenanigans.  The Kansas Meadowlark discusses this strange case.

Kansas Supreme Court Rules to Allow Evidence Collected by Kline Against Planned Parenthood
Kansas Liberty reports that the evidence collected by Johnson County District Attorney Phill Kline during an investigation of alleged crimes at a Planned Parenthood clinic in Overland Park could be used against the abortion provider.  The Supreme Court opinion, which included language that was strikingly hostile to Kline, was written by Justice Carol A. Beier, a Sebelius appointee.  Beier's language was directed at Kline on a personal level, even ridiculing him for losing a recent election, and often reading more like an angry op-ed piece than a Supreme Court decision.
KansasLiberty.com - Phil LaCerte - Angry tone of the court's decision overshadows the decision itself

KC Star Has a Different Take on the Decision

The KC Star Publisher Pats Himself on the Back
Mark Zieman brags on how the KC Star has an “Independent Political Agenda.” A short pause here for you to catch your breath from your fit of apoplexy. Zieman failed to notice that the KC Star has completely ignored the ACORN voting registration scandals, the millions of dollars given to democratic cronies by KCMO in housing scandals (the Tracy Ave rehab scam is just the tip of the iceberg), the political shenanigans committed by Freedom Inc. (a 501(c)3 organization), the financial shenanigans of Reverend Emanuel “Carwash” Cleaver, the two convicted felons on the Jackson County Legislature (contrary to state law), the multi-billion dollar failed Kansas City School District, and the KC Star’s political smear of a member of the KC Park Board.  And a lot more.

Doctors Report Terrorist Torture "Beyond Words"
The full extent of the barbarity of the Mumbai massacres has not yet  been (nor likely will be) reported by the mainstream press. Here's a  story from Arutz-7 (Israeli News Service) on how the "hostages" in Mumbai's Chabad House were not just murdered, but tortured (and by "torture", we're not talking about waterboarding).  [Hmmm...will we hear even a peep from those who were so outraged over treatment of prisoners at Abu Ghraib or Gitmo?  -- Stu Tarlowe]

International Court To Punish Nations That Fail Global Warming Standards
The court would also fine countries or companies that fail to protect endangered species or degrade the natural environment and enforce the "right to a healthy environment".  The UN Climate Change Conference in Poznan, Poland this month is set to begin negotiations that will lead to a new agreement to replace the Kyoto Protocol in Copenhagen next year.

What One Group is Not Named As Possible Perps in the Mumbai Terrorist Attack?
Why it's Muslims, of course.  The media would never point to the
Religion of Peace as having a hand in the terror rage.
KC Star - AP - Mumbai terror rage ends after 60 hours, 195 dead

Will Sebelius Play a Part in Obama's Cabinet?
Sebelius has had a tangled past with the union thugs of Kansas.  Usually friendly, but not always. Kansas Liberty reviews some labor flaws of Sebelius' past..

Unlike the KC Star, the Canadian Windsor Star Describes Global Warming Reluctance
In a recent Canadian poll, less than half of those surveyed, or 47 per cent, said they were prepared to make personal lifestyle changes to reduce carbon emissions, down from 58 per cent last year.  Only 37 per cent said they were willing to spend "extra time" on the effort, an eight-point drop.  And only one in five respondents - or 20 per cent - said they'd spend extra money to reduce climate change. That's down from 28 per cent a year ago.

Lynn Jenkins US Congress Victory Discussed in KansasLiberty.com
Despite a KC Star endorsement, being an incumbent, having big bucks to spend, Nancy Boyda lost to Republican Lynn Jenkins.  Even the Messiah steamroller failed to re-elect Nancy Boyda.  Read more in the KansasLiberty.com.  You won't find any news about Lynn's victory KC Star.

Five Hostages Found Dead in Jewish Center in Mumbai
Commandos stormed the Mumbai headquarters of an ultra-orthodox Jewish group and found the bodies of five hostages inside, including a New York rabbi and his wife.  The Muslim Religion of Peace missionaries have killed over two hundred hostages in the past three days.

Wind Power Exposed
A report linked from the Star's Prime buzz web site asks: Will the Messiah have to re-think wind power?  EnergyTribune.com reveals that Independent reports have consistently revealed an industry plagued by high construction and maintenance costs, highly volatile reliability and a voracious appetite for taxpayer subsidies. Such is the economic strain on taxpayer funds being poured into wind power by Europe's early pioneers -- Denmark, Germany and Spain – that all have recently been forced to scale back their investments.

Political Cartoonist Lee Judge Missing From KC Star's Opinion Page
It seems that the recent round of layoffs at the KC Star included Lee Judge.  Judge often crossed attacked conservatives with a vengeance.   The Star will replace his work with syndicated replacement cartoons.  I wonder if Glen McCoy will ever show up at the top of the Opinion Page.

Jonah Goldberg Writes That Unions Have a Grip on Political Parties
Actually, only one political party.  Jonah Goldberg write a great column about the Messiah, unions, and schools.  He writes "The main reason politicians adopt a policy of malign neglect: teachers unions, arguably the single worst mainstream institution in our country today. No group has a stronger or better-organized stranglehold on a political party. No group is more committed to putting ideological blather and self-interest before the public good."
KC Star - Jonah Goldberg - Teachers unions have grip on political parties

KCK Government Gets a Taste of Big Federal  Government EPA Harassment
The Kansas City, Kan., Board of Public Utilities is facing millions of dollars in fines for allegedly spewing pollution from two aging coal plants.  KS Democratic senator Chris Steineger says that the city needs to get out of the business of generating electricity and “leave that to companies that have the capital and management expertise to do it properly.”  It's a case of "Do as I say, not as I do."
KC Star - Karen Dillion - Clean-air dispute could cost BPU millions

And You Thought Light Rail Routes Were Racial
Carleton University students in Canada have decided that combating
cystic fibrosis is not worthy of inclusion in their association's annual charity drive because the disease affects chiefly Caucasian males and is therefore not sufficiently "inclusive".

The Earth’s Not Flat, and It’s Not Warming
Years after global temperature rises peaked around 1998 — and the world has been cooling ever since — we're still hearing shrill warnings that we are doomed to be deep fried by Mother NatureGoratics are now running our federal government (Bush included).  And many Goratics  have the gall to compare the growing number of scientists and others who scoff at their specious claims to flat-earth believers
SmartGreenUSA.com - Global warming is a fraud.

Liberal Quotes:
“You know, I’m talking about all of us back in 1957 in Little Rock, Ark. I’m talking about George Wallace, Bull Connor and I’m sure that the U.S. Senate don’t (sic) want to see themselves placed in the same position.”

Why Democrats don't want to lower gas prices

To Our Discerning Readers:
The mainstream media, unfortunately, are no longer m
ainstream.  Our goal is to prod them gently to become what they once were and still pretend to be.  In this spirit, we encourage submissions that add new information or correct old information.  We insist that all our material be well documented, good spirited, and relentlessly factual.  We cannot afford to be wrong.
